Catalan Mobility Day 2018

On Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 June, DUNA attended the Catalan Mobility Day organized by AMTU, the Association of Municipalities for Mobility and Urban Transport.

AMTU is an association of freely adhered municipalities, which aims to provide technical, legal and administrative support to its members in the areas of mobility, infrastructure and public transport. Every year, the association organises the Catalan Mobility Day, with the support of the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) of Barcelona and the Railways of the Generalitat (FGC), with the aim of offering the best experiences in the field of mobility to a public made up of technicians, councillors and mobility operators.

This year’s theme was “Public transport with autonomous vehicles” and different questions have been raised about mobility with autonomous vehicles which, according to experts, will arrive around 2020, although those with full autonomy (level 5) will not be introduced until 2025.

The debate has also been opened to the field of public transport, analysing whether a public transport network with autonomous vehicles is possible and what the advantages and disadvantages might be.
